Curbside waste pickup could be delayed in winter conditions

With snow back on the roads after the balmy temperatures of late, the Regional Waste Reduction Office reminds you to please be patient with your waste collection during winter weather events.
During times of heavy snowfall, or excessive inclement weather and icy roadways, if your garbage, yard waste or recycling collection is missed on your regular collection day, please leave your carts out until collection occurs. Regional District offices and facilities will be closed Friday, November 11 for Remembrance Day. Service resumes at 8 a.m. on Monday, November 14.

A reminder that yard waste collection continues through the end of December, so there’s still lots of time to get your yard cleaned up before winter.
Bi- weekly yard waste pickup ends Friday, December 30. That’s the last day in the Central Okanagan for the curbside yard waste pickup program until collection resumes March 1, 2023.

Open burning permits are now available for eligible Central Okanagan property owners from their local fire service.*
Central Okanagan burning permits will take effect at 12 p.m. Friday, October 28 allowing permit holders to burn outdoors on days when both air quality and venting indices are good.
Normally, permits run from October 1 through April 30 in the Central Okanagan. This year, the start was delayed across the region because of a high fire danger rating.
