Retire your unwanted tires

The Regional District of Central Okanagan is hosting the annual free tire collection event. Residents across the region are invited to drop off any old or unused tires on or off rims that may be a habitat for mosquito larvae. The event is free of charge and although there is no limit to the number of tires individuals can drop off, it is intended for residential cleanup only. Campfire ban ends for the Central Okanagan

Effective August 27, 2024, the ban on campfires has been lifted in most areas of the Central Okanagan. Campfires are still not permitted at any time within the City of Kelowna.
The campfire ban within local government fire jurisdictions in the Central Okanagan has been in place since July 12. Phase One of wildfire recovery begins in Rose Valley Regional Park

From August 27 to August 30, 2024, a contracted crew will be falling marked danger trees damaged by the McDougall Creek wildfire in the first phase of the Rose Valley Regional Park wildfire recovery. The work will include assessments, identification and falling of trees that may pose a risk to public safety in the area immediately adjacent to Rose Valley Elementary School.

Closures at sntsk'il'ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park

Some trails and parking at sntsk'il'ntən - Black Mountain Regional Park will have intermittent closures next week. The sntsk'il'ntən trail will be closed intermittently between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday, August 26th to Friday, August 30th, 2024.
The closures will be as follows:
- Monday the Swainson Road parking lot and trailhead will be closed
- Tuesday to Friday both the Swainson Road trailhead and Joe Riche Road trailhead will be closed
