Pop-up recycling depots return

The Regional District Waste Reduction Office is again hosting a series of pop-up recycling depots for residents in Lake Country and Peachland. They’re an opportunity for residents to drop off depot only recyclables such as Styrofoam, glass and soft plastics in their own communities.
Nine pop-up depots are slated for March through September: seven in Lake Country and two in Peachland. Similar events last year were well received in both communities.

Goats Peak Regional Park reopens

Goats Peak Regional Parkis open again for visitors following an investigation by the BC Conservation Officer Service.
No recent cougar activity was identified during the latest check through the 63-hectare park by the Conservation Officer Service and the park is allowed to open.
For safety reasons, the park located off Highway 97 south in West Kelowna was closed last Tuesday (Feb. 28) as Conservation Officers followed up on a recent report of a cougar sighting in the park.

Rebates of up to $1,500 are available for Central Okanagan residents that recycle an old wood burning appliance and replace it with newer, cleaner burning technology. New incentive levels and a new bounty option are included in the rebate program along with increased incentives for Westbank First Nation members.
