The Regional District of Central Okanagan is preparing its 2023 – 2027 Five-year Financial Plan. Residents have several ways to learn about and comment on the fiscal priorities outlined in the budget.

Backup water generators and Gas Tax

The Regional Board received a report on the financial implications for installing backup electrical generators on the Killiney Beach and Westshore Estates water systems. Community Works Gas Tax funds could be considered for this project. The report recommends that prior to allocating Community Works Gas Tax funds in 2023, a Board policy be developed for appropriately allocating gas tax funds for eligible projects in the regional district electoral areas.

The Regional Board has adopted bylaws setting out annual rate adjustments for 2023 through 2027 for each of the six water systems maintained and operated by the regional district. More items accepted for curbside or depot recycling

The new year means that Central Okanagan residents can now recycle even more items either in their home recycling, or by returning items to a recycling depot.

As of January 1, Recycle BC has added single-use products and packaging-like products to its residential recycling program.
