Dog Ambassadors are back

After a two-year COVID hiatus, watch for the Regional District of Central Okanagan Dog Ambassadors wearing their brightly coloured shirts as they visit all the popular dog hotspots.
You’ll find them through the summer at local beaches, parks and popular walkways talking with dogs and their guardians. The goal of the Ambassador program is to act as a resource: educating and informing all dog owners, resident and visitors, about the Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw and the My Dog Matters rewards...

2021 RDCO Financial statement
The Regional Board has approved the 2021 report outlining remuneration and expenses for elected officials, their alternates and 48 staff whose remuneration was greater than $75,000. In 2021, the remuneration of all Regional District employees totaled just over $10.9-million. The report also outlines payments totaling over $20-million during 2021 to 116 suppliers for goods and services exceeding $25,000.

Westshore Water Advisory ends

After consulting with Interior Health, the Regional District of Central Okanagan has rescinded a precautionary Water Quality Advisory for some customers of the Westshore Estates water system.
The advisory was required following an emergency leak repair June 20 impacting ten properties (even addresses between 500 and 578 Mountain Drive and 84 Hillcrest Way). No other customers of the water system were affected by the advisory.
This isolated area of the community water system has been flushed...
Outdoor water restrictions continue

Twice weekly outdoor water restrictions remain for customers of the Regional District’s water systems.
Normally each year from June 16 until September 15, Stage 2 water restrictions are in place for the Star Place, Falcon Ridge, Killiney Beach, Sunset Ranch, Upper Fintry-Shalal Road-Valley of the Sun and Westshore water systems. Last September, due to the extreme drought designation by Agriculture Canada, those outdoor watering limits were kept in place, instead of moving back to Stage 1.

KLO Creek Regional Park open again

KLO Creek Regional Park is open again for visitors.
Located off McCulloch Road in East Kelowna, the park was closed June 14 due to spring freshet-fueled high-water levels in the creek and nearby trail.
While there has been some reduction in Mission Creek, the recreational Mission Creek Greenway trail remains closed from the Peck Road parking area upstream to the Saskatoon trail below the Field Road entrance to Scenic Canyon Regional Park. As well, the underpasses at Lakeshore Road, Gordon Drive...
