April 30 end for open burning permits

Open burning season in the Central Okanagan ends on Saturday, April 30.
Until then when conditions allow, all eligible property owners, farmers and other large lot owners with permits from their local fire jurisdiction may burn specific wood debris outdoors. As well, they must follow the BC Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation.

Peachland pop-up recycling depot

The Regional District Waste Reduction Office is hosting a series of new recycling events that will allow residents in the Central Okanagan to drop off depot only recyclables such as Styrofoam, glass and soft plastics in their own communities.
A one-day only pop-up recycling depot will take place at the Peachland Recreation Centre parking lot on Saturday, May 7 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The Recreation Centre is located at 4450 6th Street. Staff will be on hand to answer any recycling questions.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a Water Quality Advisory for residents served by the small Star Place water system in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area.
The advisory affects eight properties connected to the community water system on Star Place off Trepanier Road near the Okanagan Connector (Hwy 97-C). Off-season dog pilot projects end

Off-season, dog access pilot projects have ended in two regional parks in the District of Lake Country.
Residents are reminded that regular rules prohibiting dogs are back in effect in Kaloya and Kopje regional parks.
The pilot projects temporarily allowed dogs off-leash in Kopje Regional Park and on-leash on trails within Kaloya Regional Park during the slower winter months from October 1 through March 31. During that time, dogs were not allowed on the beach area of either park.
