Proposed Board remuneration review
The Regional Board supports an interim review of its remuneration bylaw and policy for consideration by the end of September. It’s recommended by staff that any amendments would take effect in January 2023 for elected and appointed Directors of the next Regional Board. It’s also suggested that a more comprehensive, formal review would take place in 2024, outside of a local government election year.

2021 RDCO Financial statement
The Regional Board has approved the 2021 report outlining remuneration and expenses for elected officials, their alternates and 48 staff whose remuneration was greater than $75,000. In 2021, the remuneration of all Regional District employees totaled just over $10.9-million. The report also outlines payments totaling over $20-million during 2021 to 116 suppliers for goods and services exceeding $25,000.

The Regional Board has approved renewing a partnership agreement with the Trustees of the Gellatly Cemetery for three years through 2025. The original agreement was signed in 1999 with the trustees who own and maintain the .631-hectare cemetery within the RDCO’s 2.54-hectare Gellatly Heritage Regional Park in West Kelowna. The trustees have successfully supported capital improvements and on-going maintenance in both the regional park and cemetery sites.

Recycle BC curbside collection agreement
The Regional Board has deferred a decision on whether to contract with Recycle BC to provide curbside recycling services in the Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West electoral areas effective April 30, 2026. The Board will receive more information by the end of June considering any change for the curbside collection program. Each local government will consider whether it wishes to receive direct curbside recycling from Recycle BC.
