Stage 1 outdoor watering

As needed, customers of the six water systems operated by the Regional District of Central Okanagan return to odd/even outdoor irrigation.

Unless otherwise designated, between September 16 and June 15 – Stage 1 restrictions are in place allowing watering outdoors on alternating days.    Customers with even-numbered addresses may irrigate on even numbered calendar days while those with odd-numbered addresses may water outdoors on odd number days.  If you don’t need to water outdoors...

Killiney Beach water advisory ends

After consulting with Interior Health, the Regional District of Central Okanagan has rescinded a precautionary Water Quality Advisory for all customers of the Killiney Beach water system. 

Approximately 295 properties were affected by higher-than-normal turbidity in the Okanagan Lake water source.  The advisory was issued August 24.

Water sample testing confirms that turbidity is again within acceptable and safe Canadian guidelines for drinking water quality.

Free radon test kits

While supplies last, once again the RDCO Air Quality program is offering 420 radon gas test kits to Central Okanagan building owners, managers and tenants, of residential, workplace and leisure indoor space.  All workplaces qualify, with special focus on Medical Professional Buildings such as Doctor’s offices, Pharmacies, Massage therapists, Physiotherapists, Chiropractors, Dental Care, Optometrists, Walk-in Clinics, Acupuncture, Naturopaths, Laboratories, among others.

Construction at Black Mountain - sntsk‘il’ntən Regional Park

Visitors to Black Mountain - sntsk‘il’ntən (sins-KILL-ing-tin) Regional Park should be aware of some construction closures.

The Swainson Road parking area is closed until approximately the middle of next month as crews develop the new parking lot and trailhead access.  Access to the park is available from Tower Ranch Road through Tower Ranch Park to the Coyote trail, and from the Joe Rich Road parking and trailhead off Highway 33 via the sntsk‘il’ntən  and Flume trails.

The Chief Election Officer has declared that eligible voters in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area will be going to the polls next month to elect their representative on the Central Okanagan Board of Education, School Trustee Zone II. The following candidates have been declared and will appear on the ballot:
