Yard waste clean up time

A reminder that yard waste collection continues through the end of December, so there’s still lots of time to get your yard cleaned up before winter.
Bi- weekly yard waste pickup ends Friday, December 30. That’s the last day in the Central Okanagan for the curbside yard waste pickup program until collection resumes March 1, 2023.

Agriculture in the Central Okanagan generates $900 million a year in economic activity with more than 800 farms employing over 4,400 people.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan is developing a region-wide Agricultural Strategy to provide coordinated and consistent agricultural policies to help protect agricultural land, increase food security and address issues within the agricultural community.

October 28 start to open burning

Open burning permits are now available for eligible Central Okanagan property owners from their local fire service.*
Central Okanagan burning permits will take effect at 12 p.m. Friday, October 28 allowing permit holders to burn outdoors on days when both air quality and venting indices are good.
Normally, permits run from October 1 through April 30 in the Central Okanagan. This year, the start was delayed across the region because of a high fire danger rating.

Regional District telephone survey

From Oct. 27 through the first week of November, the Regional District is conducting its first, statistically-valid citizen telephone survey in the Central Okanagan.
The survey will gather feedback from residents, determining their priorities, as well as gauging their satisfaction with current RDCO programs and services.
