Extreme fire danger rating in RDCO parks

With rising fire risk due to sustained hot and dry conditions, the Regional District reminds visitors to use caution and be aware of fire prevention and safety requirements when in regional parks throughout the summer.
Smoking, vaping and open flames are not allowed any time in regional or RDCO community parks. Propane fueled barbeques are permitted but must be attended and kept safely away from any flammable materials.

Falcon Ridge water system construction notice

Construction related to a water main extension along Peregrine Road for the Falcon Ridgewater system will be underway until late July 2024.
While work is underway, residents may notice construction vehicles and workers in the area. Please observe directional signage and worker direction.
Following installation of the new water main, eight properties may be without water as the connection is completed including:

Campfire ban across the Central Okanagan begins Friday

Effective July 12, 2024, at 12 p.m. (noon), all campfires are prohibited throughout Central Okanagan municipalities and electoral area fire service areas to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
In alignment with our partners at the BC Wildfire Service, and due to high temperatures and dry conditions, the campfire ban will remain in effect until further notice.

Mission Creek Regional Park service road construction

To prepare for the planned installation of four riffles in a portion of Mission Creek, temporary trail closures to accommodate construction and heavy equipment in Mission Creek Regional Park will occur on July 3 and 4, 2024. While work is underway on the service road bridge crossing, closures at this location will require visitors accessing the Soopollalie Trail and the Sutherland Hills Trail to use alternate trail routes. The Regional District of Central Okanagan offices on KLO Road in Kelowna will be closed on Monday, July 1 for the Canada Day holiday. We look forward to serving you again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2.
