Open burning permits now available

Effective today, October 16, restrictions for open burning in the Central Okanagan have been lifted and permits are available for eligible property owners from their local fire service. Permits holders can burn outdoors on days when both air quality and venting indices are good.
Normally, permits run from October 1 through April 30 in the Central Okanagan. This year, the start was delayed across the region because of the high fire danger rating.

A deal for new dog owners

In 2023, animal control staff at the Regional District of Central Okanagan reunited 284 lost dogs with their owners. This was due in large part to dogs being licensed, which allows staff to quickly notify the owner on file.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan offices on KLO Road in Kelowna will be closed on Monday, October 9 for Thanksgiving. We look forward to serving you again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10.
