Sand and bags available for RDCO Electoral Area West residents

In the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, especially areas affected by the McDougall Creek and White Rock Lake wildfires, sand and bags have been made available for residents, as a proactive measure to mitigate potential flooding during freshet.
Property owners are responsible for having an emergency plan and the tools and equipment needed to protect their properties from potential flooding. Residents can fill sandbags to safeguard their property.

KLO Bridge replacement, roundabout construction begin Monday

Starting the week of Monday, April 14, work will begin on KLO Road between Leader Road and Hall Road to improve the KLO Bridge and roundabout.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained along KLO Road routing across the old bridge while the new bridge is constructed upstream. The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a precautionary Water Quality Advisory for residents served by the Star Place water system in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area due to increased turbidity in source water caused by the annual freshet (flood season streamflow from rain and melting snow). The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) advises all customers of the Westshore Estates water system of a precautionary Water Quality Advisory due to low counts of total coliform in the water system.
