RDCO launches book recycling pilot project

The Regional District Waste Reduction office is launching a three-month pilot project to offer residents of the Central Okanagan a more convenient option for recycling their old books. The goal is to prevent books from getting tossed in residential recycling carts, which ends up contaminating the recycling stream, negatively affecting our communities’ success rates and contracts with Recycle BC.

Approving Authority resolutions
The Regional Board approved several resolutions related to advance payments to two landowners for the expropriation of a small area of land to be added to an existing Statutory Right of Way (SRW) access road. Approximately 249.3 square metres of land is being added to the SRW which has existed since 1996 to ensure continued access for maintenance and security of the Falcon Ridge water system intake infrastructure which services 60 properties.

Greenway section closure

A section of the Mission Creek Greenway Regional Park will be closed for two weeks.
During daytime hours from Monday, April 3 through Friday, April 14, the recreational trail will be closed upstream from the Hollywood Road parking lot and trail entrance to the Smoothing Stones bridge. This section will be open evenings and through the upcoming long weekend, Friday, April 7 through Monday, April 10.
