Thanks to the thousands of Central Okanagan dog owners who renewed or bought a new license for 2022!
As of March 1, a license for dogs that are spayed or neutered is $40 and for those that are not, a license is $80.
The Responsible Dog Ownership Bylaw requires all dogs three months and older to be licensed each year.
It's easy to do online at www.rdco.com/dogs or at any local government office.
And licensed dog owners may choose to use the special discounts and services offered by My Dog Matters...
RDCO telephone survey

The Regional District Waste Reduction Office in partnership with Discovery Research is conducting a telephone survey of single family residences in the Central Okanagan from March 14 to March 31.
This survey will garner feedback on residents satisfaction with their recycling services.
The survey will also gather public opinion on the role of government in implementing bylaws surrounding single use plastics.

RDCO grant for FireSmart wildfire risk reduction

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has been awarded a sizeable grant to assist it with FireSmart community projects.
The $250,000 in funding is provided by the Government of British Columbia, administered by the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Community Resiliency Investment Fund. The RDCO will contribute an additional $30,000 towards the FireSmart programming to reduce the risk in Central Okanagan communities.

North Westside self-serve sand stations

North Westside residents may proactively get started on preparing their properties in case of an emergency this spring.
Self-serve sand and sandbag stations are available at two North Westside fire halls:
- Killiney Beach main hall Station 101 – 514 Udell Road
- Westside Road Station 102 - 7355N Westside Road North
Residents are responsible for filling sandbags to use in protecting their property. The supply will be replenished as needed.
