Regional Board meeting highlights - June 9, 2022

The Regional Board has approved renewing a partnership agreement with the Trustees of the Gellatly Cemetery for three years through 2025. The original agreement was signed in 1999 with the trustees who own and maintain the .631-hectare cemetery within the RDCO’s 2.54-hectare Gellatly Heritage Regional Park in West Kelowna. The trustees have successfully supported capital improvements and on-going maintenance in both the regional park and cemetery sites.

While temperatures are cooler than usual for this time of year, nuisance mosquitoes are still present. As mosquitoes usually peak between mid-June and the end of July, steps you take now around your property can help make for fewer bites this summer.

Greenway underpass closed

Rising water levels forced the closure of Casorso Road bridge underpass along the Mission Creek Greenway.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan urges visitors to respect any barricades and closure signs posted at these locations as they will remain closed until waters recede.
Pedestrians and cyclists are asked to use caution and only cross Casorso Road when it is safe. Motorists are also asked to watch for Greenway users who may be crossing the road in this area while the underpass trails...
Falcon Ridge Water Quality Advisory

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a Water Quality Advisory for residents served by the Falcon Ridge water system.
Approximately 60 properties connected to the Falcon Ridge system off Highway 33 are affected.
As a result of the spring runoff in the Mission Creek water source, turbidity has increased and some residents may be impacted by the change in water quality. Interior Health has been consulted and roadside sign notices will be in place advising of the water advisory.
