Residential
For concerns about residential smoke from indoor wood-burning appliances, idling vehicles or other local air quality concerns, please submit an environmental concern online to the City of Kelowna. The Regional Air Quality program is managed through the City of Kelowna on behalf of the RDCO.
Outdoor burning
Summers in the Central Okanagan are hot and dry, which is why outdoor burning is restricted from May 1 to September 30.If you suspect someone is burning without a permit or are not meeting specific requirements for outdoor burning, please call Regional Fire Dispatch 250-469-8577.
Industrial
All industrial-related air quality concerns in the Central Okanagan must be directed to the BC Ministry of Environment - Report All Poachers and Polluters (RAPP). Reports of violations to environmental protection laws can be done online at rapp.bc.ca, by email, or call the 24-hour tip line 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP).
Please note that the Ministry of Environment's team collects information from all complaints received and the data is used to support planned inspections. Any evidence of ash or smoke leaving the property will strengthen your complaint. If you are taking photos to include in your report, be sure the sun is behind you for a good quality photo.
