About the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre
As part of the RDCO's emergency management program, all municipal partners work together when there is a regional emergency and the Central Okanagan Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) is activated.
The EOC works to support major emergency response for events like forests fires, floods, an airplane crash or other catastrophes.
The EOC can be activated for one of three reasons:
- To support responders when an event has exceeded, or has the potential to exceed, the capacity of first responders
- At the request of first responders to provide logistical or situational awareness support
- To take on roles such as public information or requests for assistance to allow responders to focus on the event
Communications during an event
When activated information about the emergency will be issue through the EOC website to communicate up-to-date information. You can also subscribe to receive e-notices when information is updated during any emergency.
