West Kelowna ATM Theft

October 8, 2025

On October 8, 2025, at approximately 4:26 a.m., officers responded to a report of mischief to the exterior of a bank located in the 5500 block of Clements Crescent. Upon arrival, police determined that suspects had used a front-end loader and a pickup truck to forcibly remove the ATM deposit box from the side of the building before fleeing the scene with it.
A short time later, officers located both vehicles abandoned not far from the bank, along with the stolen deposit box.
A Police Dog was deployed in attempt to track the suspects; however, they were not located.
“This was a bold and dangerous act that caused significant damage to the business,” says Cpl. Devon Gerrits of the West Kelowna RCMP. “We’re asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during the early morning hours to contact police.”

RCMP Warn of Grandparent Scam

In two separate files, Kelowna RCMP responded to reports of a fraudster scamming a significant amount of money from an elderly person stating their grandchild was in legal trouble.
In both cases the victims received a phone call claiming to be the lawyer of their grandchild who had been arrested and is in jail following a fictitious criminal matter. The lawyer suggests a cash payment of $5000 can be collected to help their grandchild get out of custody. In both cases the male suspect arrived at the victim’s residence to pick up the payment.

RCMP Seeking Sexual Assault Suspect

September 5 2025

 

The Kelowna RCMP Sex Crimes Unit is investigating a sexual assault that took place between 10:00pm and 12:00am on Saturday August 23, 2025, behind the strip mall in the 300 block of Highway 33 in Rutland. A female youth victim was assaulted by an unknown male who fled the area on foot.

 The RCMP is thoroughly investigating this incident in an effort to identify this suspect.  Today police are releasing the attached sketch to the public to further the investigation in hopes that someone will recognize him.

 

The suspect is described as:

 

  • Male,
  • 30-40 years old,
  • A darker complexion,
  • Brown or Black hair,
  • Approximately 5’8” tall,
  • Medium build,
  • Last seen wearing a dark t-shirt, blue jeans (or similar), and white sneakers.

RCMP Seeking Witness to Vandalism

Kelowna RCMP is actively investigating a vandalising incident that occurred on August 10, 2025, at approximately midnight. Two individuals were observed on video surveillance defacing multiple sections of the newly constructed Harvey Avenue and Richter Street pedestrian overpass bridge with spray paint.
Suspect 1 is described as:
• Caucasian male,
• Last seen wearing a grey hoodie with white, red and black writing, black baggy pants, white and black runners, and a black and white printed headband, carrying a black and beige camera-like bag.
Suspect 2 is described as:
• Caucasian male,
• Longer blonde hair,
• Last seen wearing black pants, black long-sleeved t-shirt with white writing on the back, black and white baseball cap and runners.

RCMP Looking to Identify Suspect in Mischief Investigation

The Kelowna RCMP is investigating a disturbing incident of hate-motivated graffiti, reported on August 19, 2025, on the exterior wall of Rutland Arena in the 600-block of Dodd Road. The graffiti contained hateful and discriminatory language, prompting an immediate response and investigation by police.

 

“This type of vandalism undermines the safety and inclusivity we strive for in our community,” said Cpl. Allison Konsmo, Media Relations Officer with the Kelowna RCMP. “We are committed to identifying those involved and ensuring they are held accountable.”

 

The suspects were seen in the vicinity of the arena around 12:30 a.m. on August 17, during which time they were observed on video surveillance spray painting the arena. “The surveillance footage from the area has led investigators to seek public assistance in identifying two individuals believed to be involved,” adds Cpl. Konsmo.

 

Suspect 1 is described as:

  • Caucasian male,
  • Last seen wearing green camo print pants, a black jacket, grey t-shirt, grey and purple baseball cap with white writing and boots.

 

Suspect 2 is described as:

  • Caucasian male,
  • Brown beard and moustache,
  • Last seen wearing grey pants, red hoodie with white writing, red runners and a grey and black baseball cap,
  • Riding a gold and black mountain bike.

RCMP Seeking Video Footage of Assault

The Kelowna RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in an ongoing investigation into an assault that occurred on June 16, 2025.
At approximately 1:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in the alleyway between Ellis Street and St. Paul Street. A 42-year-old woman, who was on her break from work, was assaulted by an unknown suspect between 1:00 p.m. and 1:25 p.m.
Police are seeking any video footage or witness accounts from the area surrounding the 1440 block of St. Paul Street and the 1400 block of Ellis Street, bordered by Bernard Avenue and Doyle Avenue, including the back alleyways.
“We are urging anyone who may have seen this incident or captured any relevant video footage—whether from dash cams, security cameras, or personal devices to come forward,” says Cpl. RCMP Seeking Identity of Scooter Rider Involved in Collision

On April 6, 2025 at approximately 5:15 p.m., the Kelowna RCMP responded to a collision between two motorized kick scooter riders in the 800-block of Ellis Street.
One male sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital while the other rider departed prior to police attendance.
The description of the unidentified rider is believed to be a male, slim, shorter in stature, wearing a helmet, and camouflage jacket, and riding a black and orange scooter.
Anyone who can identify or has any information regarding the identity of the rider, is requested to contact the Kelowna RCMP and reference file number 2025-18072.

Damage to New Bike Park

March 26 Lake Country RCMP received a report of a truck that had been  drove on the trails at the new Lake Country Bike park located at 8865 Okanagan Center Rd West. Police arrived at approximately 8:30 am and met the District of Lake Country already employees who were already starting repairs to the trails and bank.  It was found a 2014 Dodge truck had gained access to the trails and was driving on them when the bank slipped . The truck slid down the bank toward the water treatment plant where it came to a stop on the hill. The vehicle was found to uninsured and the driver fled the scene prior to police or District of Lake Country employees arriving. Police are still investigating potential criminal charges and motor vehicle act offences against the driver. If the driver cannot be identified the registered owner will be issued violation tickets as all vehicle owners have a responsibility for how their vehicle is being operated. If anyone saw this incident or has information to provide they are asked to contact the Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288.

On January 30, 2025, a female shoplifted in a store at Orchard Park Mall. The female departed in a Honda CRV. Police are seeking witnesses who could identify this individual.
