The Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is now extending its book recycling program to the North Westside Community Library in Killiney Beach.
The book recycling program offers Central Okanagan residents a convenient way to recycle their old, out-of-date and damaged books.
The RDCO launched the program last year after finding residents were tossing books in their recycling carts, material Recycle BC does not allow in curbside carts or at recycling depots.
If books are damaged or outdated (more than 5 years old) they can now be added to book bins at the North Westside Community Library at 516 Udell Road. All the books collected get a final sort through, and good books are gleaned and resold. The rest have their bindings cut off and the paper is recycled.
