There are several opportunities to celebrate the seasonal spawning return of the Okanagan Lake land-locked salmon.
Welcome the Kokanee
The free Welcome the Kokanee event goes at Hardy Falls Regional Park, Saturday, August 27 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
RDCO Park interpreters will be on hand with displays and information about the life cycle of Kokanee salmon. Join a small group for a guided walk along Deep Creek, as the fresh-water cousins of the sockeye, return to spawn. Or challenge your creative energy by making a nature-inspired treasure to take home!
Representatives from GoFishBC and WildSafeBC Central Okanagan will also be on hand to meet and answer questions.
Hardy Falls Regional Park is located along Hardy Street in Peachland, off Highway 97 south.
