Regional Board meeting highlights - Feb. 16

Draft 2023-2027 Five-year Financial Plan

The Regional Board has received an updated presentation on the RDCO’s draft 2023-2027 Financial Plan. The Board directed staff to reduce proposed Capital reserve transfers for one year to lower the tax impact for:

• The Central Okanagan West Electoral Area Westside Community Parks service
• The North Westside Fire Department local service area

A reduction was also requested for the Killiney Beach community hall local service area budget.

These changes will be presented at the next Financial Plan review meeting on March 16.

Detailed information is available and email comments on the fiscal priorities may be provided at yoursay.rdco.com. Final adoption of the RDCO and Central Okanagan Regional Hospital District Financial Plans is scheduled for meetings on March 30.

February 23 Board meeting

The Regional Board has approved adjusting its meeting schedule, adding a regular meeting on Thursday, February 23 at 8:30 a.m.

North Westside governance and services

The Regional Board has received a letter from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs related to the 2022 North Westside Governance and Services Study.  The ministry is encouraged by actions taken by the RDCO to address issues raised by the community during the study. The 2022 study recommended a possible boundary and governance change be explored for the North Westside area.

Planning Application considered

The Regional Board considered the following planning application:

• Following a Public Hearing, the Regional Board has given second and third readings to Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 871-276 (Application Z22/05) for 491 Killarney Way (J & S Sanjenko, owner) to add a secondary suite to an existing single detached house.
