The Regional Board has approved renewing a partnership agreement with the Trustees of the Gellatly Cemetery for three years through 2025. The original agreement was signed in 1999 with the trustees who own and maintain the .631-hectare cemetery within the RDCO’s 2.54-hectare Gellatly Heritage Regional Park in West Kelowna. The trustees have successfully supported capital improvements and on-going maintenance in both the regional park and cemetery sites.
Temporary expanded liquor license service
The Regional Board has directed staff to advise the BC Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch that it supports a continued temporary liquor license expanded service area operating at Lake Okanagan Resort. The temporary expanded service area was designed to allow licensees to serve patrons and comply with physical distancing requirements of the Public Health Officer. RDCO Bylaw, Fire Services and West Kelowna RCMP have expressed safety concerns in responding to complaints at the Resort.
The Regional Board continues work to help develop an effective, coordinated framework for advancing its Strategic Priorities when advocating for funding and support with senior governments and other potential partners. The workshops have helped provide the Board with some guiding principles for decision making and shared priority setting along with developing focal points for its advocacy. The Board believes it’s important to identify advocacy efforts on regional and electoral area issues.
