At the Inaugural meeting of the Regional District Board, Kelowna Councillor Loyal Wooldridge was elected as Chair by Directors. West Kelowna Mayor Gord Milsom was acclaimed as Vice-Chair serving for a fourth year.
Past Chair Gail Given was recognized with a certificate for her seven years of leadership to the region from Kelowna-Lake Country MP Tracy Gray.
The Regional District Board consists of 13 voting members representing the Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West Electoral Areas, the City of Kelowna, District of Lake Country, District of Peachland and the City of West Kelowna. Westbank First Nation is represented with a non-voting member.

Floodplain Management Plan update
The Regional Board has received an update on the completion of the third phase of the Regional Floodplain Management Plan. Building on the previous two stages of the plan which included developing flood hazard maps for key foreshore and stream tributary areas, Phase 3 created a flood mitigation resource guide with strategies to assist local governments in efforts to reduce flood risks. The Floodplain Management Plan supports the Regional Board priority of hazard management.
Regional parkland tenure agreements
The Regional Board has approved renewing Crown Land Licenses of Occupation for portions of Glen Canyon and Johns Family Nature Conservancy regional parks. Each lease renewal is for 30-years with the same terms and conditions as the previous agreements.
Update on the Regional Housing Strategy
The Regional Board has received an update on development of a Regional Housing Strategy. The strategy will explore tools and actions that can address housing issues, needs and gaps identified in the Regional Housing Needs Assessment in a coordinated regional basis. As a part of the collaborative engagement process, a workshop for the Regional Board will be held later this month.
