Fire Service Area adjustments

The Regional Board has approved some boundary adjustments to the Ellison and Joe Rich Fire Service Areas.

The owners of 7005 Old Vernon Road have signed a letter of petition requesting their property be added to receive service from the Ellison fire department.  A property 4150 Old Vernon Road previously within the service area is now part of the City of Kelowna and is removed from the Ellison fire area.

The Joe Rich Fire Service Area is being expanded to add service to 6490 Goudie Road after the owners signed a letter of petition to join the service area.

Board Remuneration/Expense update

The Regional Board has approved updates to its remuneration bylaw and an expense policy.  The amendments follow an internal staff review that included Best Practices, policy gaps and administrative updates.  The amendments include remuneration for the elected Vice-chair and First Nations Director attending regular and committee meetings along with remuneration for members attending Central Okanagan Regional Hospital District Board meetings.

Planning Applications considered

The Regional Board considered the following planning applications:

• The Regional Board has adopted Zoning Amendment Bylaw 871-275 (Application Z22/03) for 775 Wood Road (D and J Fisher, owners) to permit a secondary suite  within the building footprint of a single-detached house recently approved for construction.

• The Regional Board approved scheduling a Public Hearing on September 26 for  Official Community Plan (OCP) Amendment Bylaw No. 1274-12 and Zoning Amendment Bylaw 871-274 (Application Z22/02) for 944 Bear Creek Road (D. Arcand, owner) to rezone a portion of the 32.4-hectare property for the purpose of future subdivision.
