In the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area, especially areas affected by the McDougall Creek and White Rock Lake wildfires, sand and bags have been made available for residents, as a proactive measure to mitigate potential flooding during freshet.
Property owners are responsible for having an emergency plan and the tools and equipment needed to protect their properties from potential flooding. Residents can fill sandbags to safeguard their property.
Self-serve sand and bags are available at:
- North Westside Fire Rescue, Station 102 - 7355 Westside Road North
- Wilson’s Landing Fire Department, Station 42 - 2396 Westside Road
Supplies at each site will be restocked if necessary.
It is a good practice for residents in both Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West Electoral Areas to also check ditches and driveway access culverts to ensure proper runoff. If you have any concerns, please contact AIMRoads 1-866-222-4204.
