The Regional District of Central Okanagan has issued a precautionary Water Quality Advisory for residents served by the Star Place water system in the Central Okanagan West Electoral Area due to increased turbidity in source water caused by the annual freshet (flood season streamflow from rain and melting snow). This affects eight properties connected to this water system. Roadside sign notices will be in place to let residents know of the Water Quality Advisory.
As a precaution, it is recommended that all customers, especially those with weakened immune systems, children and the elderly, should boil all water for at least one minute used for drinking, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages, ice or brushing teeth. As a safe alternative customers may choose to use bottled or distilled water.
This advisory will remain in effect until further notice and testing confirms water quality is within acceptable Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines.
