Parks and Trails

Some types of activities and facilities within RDCO parks require a permit such as weddings, large gatherings, reserving a picnic shelter, and special events like runs and races.

First-come, first serve amenities

Park visitors are welcome to use picnic shelters, tables, and gazebos on a first come, first served basis, free of charge if a reservation is not already in place. Designated facilities have signage to indicate if a reservation is already in place. Food Trucks are not permitted in the park.

Filming permit

This application form is necessary for anyone wanting to film within a Regional Park. Must be booked a minimum of 4 weeks in advance. More information and permit fees can be found in the application form below.

Park use and special event permits 

Available at:

  • Bertram Creek Regional Park
  • Kaloya Regional Park
  • Kopje Regional Park
  • Mission Creek Regional Park and Greenway

Booking requirements:

  • Must be booked a minimum of 6 weeks in advance of the event date
  • Applications are subject to staff approval
  • Park use and special event permits exclude weddings
  • Maximum of 4 hours duration and for events up to 500 people
  • Read our terms and conditions prior to booking

Picnic shelters (up to 25 people)

Available at:

  • Bertram Creek Regional Park
  • Kaloya Regional Park
  • Mission Creek Regional Park (currently unavailable for reservations due to construction)
  • Raymer Bay Regional Park
  • Traders Cove Regional Park

Booking Requirements:

  • Picnic shelters are first come, first served through the winter (reservations open April 1 through November 15)
  • Maximum of 25 people and 2 hours per booking
  • Cost: $95 (this includes a $40 facility fee, a $25 non-refundable admin fee and insurance)
  • Food trucks are not permitted

Recreational activity permit

Booking requirements:

  • Permit for recreation activities in parks such as guided hikes and fitness training
  • Monthly, seasonal, and annual permits available
  • Must be booked a minimum of one month in advance
  • Permit is for group activities of up to 20 people
  • Cost: $40 to $250 plus insurance
  • Read our recreational activity permit terms and conditions prior to booking

Weddings (up to 75 people)

Available at:

  • Bertram Creek Regional Park
  • Kopje Regional Park

Booking requirements:

  • Must be booked at least 6 weeks in advance and within the same calendar year as the wedding.
  • Bookable only in the months of April, May, September, and October
  • Ceremonies only - no receptions allowed
  • Maximum of 75 people
  • $250.00 fee plus $300.00 deposit per permit, plus insurance, and a $25 non-refundable admin fee
  • Applications are subject to approval
