Candidate nominations

One-on-one information meetings for candidates - If you need more information or would like to meet with the Election Officer email or phone 250-469-6224

Nomination forms for RDCO Electoral Area Director or School District No. 23 Trustee

Originals of the candidate nomination forms must be submitted during the nomination period between 9 a.m. August 30 and 4 p.m. September 9.

Additional forms to be returned with the nomination package:

  • Candidate information release authorization
  • Meet the candidate
 

People seeking local government office must meet the following criteria as outlined in the Local Government Act. You must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen
  • Be at least 18 years of age on election day
  • Have lived in BC for six months
  • Not be disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding office, or be otherwise disqualified by law

 Candidates do not have to reside or own property in the area in which they are seeking office.

Candidate timeline

  • Nomination packages are available online or from the Regional District starting at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8. 
  • Completed packages must be returned to the Chief Electoral Officer between 9 a.m. Tuesday, August 30 and 4 p.m. Friday, September 9.
