In British Columbia, each regional district is mandated by the Provincial Environmental Management Act to develop a Solid Waste Management Plan that provides a long term vision for solid waste management, including waste diversion and disposal activities. Plans are updated on a regular basis to ensure that they reflect the current needs of the regional district, as well as current market conditions, technologies and regulations.
After significant public consultation, our plan was approved by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy on February 20, 2020. You can view the final Solid Waste Management Plan.
