Find maps and all the information here that you'll need to vote for RDCO Electoral Area and School District No. 23 Trustee candidates.

 Resident elector voter qualifications

A resident elector is anyone who meets all of the qualifications below and lives within the electoral area boundary including dependents and tenants of rental properties:

  • A Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years of age on the date you vote
  • Lived in BC for six months prior to election day
  • Are not disqualified from voting because you:
    • Have been convicted of an indictable offence for which you are currently in custody OR
    • Have been found guilty of an election offence

Resident electors must present two pieces of identification, one with a signature to election officials at the voting place confirming who you are and where you currently live.  Acceptable identification includes: BC Drivers License, ICBC Insurance documents, BC ID card, Care card, Social Insurance card, BC Survey of Tax Notice, Utility bill, Credit card.

 Non-resident property elector voter qualifications
A non-resident property elector is a person who owns property within an electoral area but does not live there.

You may vote as a non-resident property elector if you meet all the following criteria:

  • You are not a resident elector of the electoral area
  • A Canadian citizen
  • At least 18 years of age on the date you vote
  • Lived in BC for six months prior to election day
  • Have owned property within the Electoral Area boundary for at least 30 days before election day
  • Have been authorized in writing by the other property owner (s) of the property as the Non-resident property elector for that property*
  • Are not disqualified from voting because you:
    • Have been convicted of an indictable offence for which you are currently in custody OR
    • Have been found guilty of an election offence

Non-resident property electors must present two pieces of identification, one with a signature confirming who you are and where you currently live.  Acceptable identification includes: BC Drivers License, ICBC Insurance documents, BC ID card, Care card, Social Insurance card, BC Survey of Tax Notice, Utility bill, Credit card.

 

*Non-resident property electors must apply for a Non-resident Property Elector Consent Form from:

  • The Chief Electoral Officer prior to voting day or
  • Apply for a Certificate on voting day at any voting place
  • In order to receive a Consent Form you must provide the following documents:
    • Proof that you own the property
    • Have written consent from the majority of owners on title of the property designating you as the only owner eligible to vote
Voting in-person in Central Okanagan East

In-person (if election required):

Register to vote at the polling place on the day that you vote.  Two pieces of acceptable ID are required to sign the voting book.

 

General local government election day on Saturday, October 15 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Joe Rich Community Hall – 11481 Highway 33 East
  • Ellison Heritage Community Hall – 4411 Old Vernon Road

 

Advance voting on Wednesday, October 5 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Curbside voting is available at each polling location by asking election staff for assistance.  They will bring your ballot to your vehicle.  You may ask a relative, friend or election staff to assist you if you are unable to mark your own ballot. If you require an interpreter, please have one accompany you to the polling station.

Mail-in ballot voting information for Electoral Areas

If an election is required, resident electors and non-resident property electors also have the option to vote by mail.

  • You must request a mail ballot package ahead of time to vote by mail. Requests can be made between 8 a.m. September 6 and 4 p.m. on October 3.
  • Completed mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer no later than 8 p.m. on October 15.
