Park interpreters lead engaging, inquiry-based learning experiences in all Regional Parks, with field trips to Mission Creek Regional Park as the most popular location. Programs are designed to complement the B.C. curriculum (K–12).

Learn about Black Bears and their behaviours while exploring ways we can coexist safely with our bruin neighbours. This program includes a story, knowledge sharing, and bear artifacts and furs.
Discover the birds of the Okanagan and learn how to identify them. Students will explore bird habits and ways we can support our feathered friends. Includes a guided forest walk.
Tour Gellatly Nut Farm Regional Park and step back in time to learn about life over a century ago, comparing it with life today. Students will explore how the Gellatly family lived and farmed the land, with a close look at a variety of nut trees.
Explore the fascinating world of geology and the rock cycle at Scenic Canyon Regional Park. Highlights include views of Layer Cake Mountain, Pinnacle Rock, and a visit to the historic rock ovens near Mission Creek.
Students will discover the challenges Kokanee Salmon face at each stage of their life, their role in the food web, and why they swim upstream. Offered at Mission Creek and Hardy Falls Regional Parks.
Just as we recognize brand logos in daily life, nature has its own “logos.” On this walking tour, students will learn to identify the unique features of Okanagan tree species.
Discover the owl species of the Okanagan, how they differ from other birds of prey, and the traits they share. Optional pellet dissection available for $10 per pellet.
Begin with a short hike to the pond in Mission Creek Regional Park, then explore the fascinating world of pond invertebrates. Students will investigate aquatic critters such as scuds, mayfly nymphs, and water striders.
Who stole the pumpkin? Was it an American Badger, a Pacific Tree Frog, a Cedar Waxwing, a Great Basin Gopher Snake, or a Raccoon? Students will learn about the “masked animals” of the Okanagan during this fun guided walk along park trails.
Explore the variety of ecosystems found in regional parks. Students will take a guided nature walk and learn about the plants, animals, and other living organisms unique to Okanagan ecosystems.
