The RDCO is one of 27 Regional Districts in the province. It is made up of two unincorporated electoral areas and the four member municipalities of Kelowna, West Kelowna, Peachland and Lake Country, as well as Westbank First Nation and Okanagan Indian Band.
Due to continued dry conditions and rising temperatures, the fire danger rating in Regional District of Central Okanagan regional and community parks is now high (level 4).
Beginning May 1, 2026, Recycle BC is responsible for residential household packaging and paper recycling in the Central Okanagan. Part of this change includes the introduction of a new pink box for flexible plastics and a grey box for glass bottles and jars. That means residents with curbside collection can recycle more, right at the curb.
