Sewer systems
The Regional operates two sewer system service areas: West side of Okanagan Lake and Sunset Ranch community in Central Okanagan East Electoral Area.
West side of Okanagan Lake
This sewer system provides sewer service to:
- City of West Kelowna
- District of Peachland
- Westbank First Nation (Tsinstikeptum) IR #9 and #10
Trunk mains have been extended into all the areas listed above except Peachland where a force main was required to provide sewer service. The trunk and force mains bring sewer closer to the individual neighbourhood. Collection systems branch out from these trunk and force mains to extend the sewers further into these areas. Once this is completed, sewer service is available to the individual properties.
Sunset Ranch community in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area
This sewer system provides sewer service in the Central Okanagan East Electoral Area for the Sunset Ranch community. This system is connected to the City of Kelowna sewer trunk system, for which the Regional District pays a connection fee. See adjusted rates for 2023-2027 below.
2023-2027 Sunset Ranch sewer system rates
The Regional Board has approved amendments to East Sewer Systems | Bylaw No. 1316 setting out annual commercial and residential sewer rates for the Sunset Ranch community for the next five years.
The rate adjustments reflect projected inflation and increases in fees charged by the City of Kelowna to connect the community sewer system to the city sewer trunk system.
