Established in 1979, Joe Rich Fire Rescue has expanded from its original structure‑fire mandate to providing full emergency response, including medical first response, rescue, wildfire suppression, vehicle incidents, and natural‑disaster support. The department responds throughout the valley from the top of Black Mountain hill toward Beaverdell and partway up the road to Big White.
