Asquith Road Transfer Station gets a new name, same services
Residents will notice new signage at the facility formerly known as the Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre.
Residents will notice new signage at the facility formerly known as the Westside Residential Waste Disposal and Recycling Centre. The Asquith Road Transfer Station offers a convenient place for disposal of household bulky items, extra yard waste, recyclables or small amounts of home renovation material that is not accepted curbside.
“The new name reflects the actual location and simplifies the facility’s name,” says Cynthia Coates, Supervisor of Solid Waste with the Regional District of Central Okanagan. “While the name might be different, we still offer the same residential recycling and waste disposal services for residents on the west side of the bridge.”
The facility does not accept commercial waste. Commercial users are reminded to take their waste materials directly to the Glenmore Landfill for disposal or arrange for a private hauler.
Hours: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday – 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (gate closes at 3:50 p.m.)
Free recycling: paper/cardboard, mixed containers, flexible plastics, glass, foam packaging, batteries, propane tanks, metal, tires (off rim), large appliances
Fee-based disposal: clean wood, mattresses, residential garbage, yard waste
All waste generated in the Central Okanagan is transported to the Glenmore Landfill. For commercial disposal, please view accepted products and tipping fees at the Glenmore Landfill website.
