New association connects, supports and celebrates the makers powering the Okanagan economy
A new regional association has officially launched to bring together manufacturers across the Okanagan Valley. The Okanagan Manufacturing Network (OKMN) was created to connect local companies, share knowledge and strengthen one of the region’s most vital sectors.
With more than 750 manufacturers operating from Salmon Arm to Osoyoos, the Okanagan is home to an incredibly diverse and innovative manufacturing community. Until now, there has been no single platform to unite these businesses. OKMN aims to fill that gap, offering networking, educational opportunities and events that showcase the talent of Okanagan manufacturers.
“Manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Okanagan economy, but many businesses face challenges in isolation,” said Alex Greer, President of OKMN. “By creating this network, we’re giving manufacturers a place to connect, collaborate and grow together.”
“The timing couldn’t be better,” added Neil Perry, Owner of Wayside, a Vernon-based manufacturer specializing in signage, printing, tech solutions and mail. “We’re facing workforce shortages, supply chain issues and growing competitive pressures. Having a local network where manufacturers can share ideas, find local suppliers and solve problems together is a huge win for the region.”
The launch of OKMN was made possible through funding and support from the Economic Trust of the Southern Interior (ETSI BC), the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission (COEDC), and regional public and private partners. Their commitment to regional economic growth continues to empower local businesses and strengthen the manufacturing sector.
“The Okanagan Manufacturing Network is a pivotal step forward for our region, giving manufacturers the connections, tools and confidence to unlock new opportunities and drive expansion,” said Krista Mallory, Manager of the COEDC. “By bringing companies together to share know-how and partner on solutions, we accelerate productivity gains, unlock new markets and build a more resilient local economy.”
Local manufacturers, economic development professionals and supporters are encouraged to connect with OKMN and participate in upcoming events. For details and registration, visit https://okmn.ca/
