Register your group for a Community Cleanup this April

Spring is returning to the Central Okanagan, and the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) is inviting residents to roll up their sleeves and take part in Community Cleanup Month this April. Gather a group, choose a location and register your cleanup with the RDCO to receive free supplies and litter collection support.

For more than 20 years, the RDCO has supported community groups taking action on litter by providing gloves and garbage bags, along with pickup of filled bags after the cleanup. Each cleanup helps remove litter from neighbourhoods, parks and public spaces while bringing people together to care for the places they share.

“Community cleanups are a simple way for neighbours, coworkers and community groups to come together and make a visible difference,” says Cynthia Coates, Supervisor of Solid Waste Services. “A small group and a little time can go a long way toward keeping our community clean and welcoming.”

Cleanups can take place in neighbourhoods, parks, school grounds, workplaces or other community spaces. Groups may organize a weekend cleanup, an evening effort with friends or even a quick lunch-hour pickup with coworkers.
