Steady leadership continues as the Regional Board re-elects chair and vice-chair

Wooldridge and Ireland re-elected.

Following a secret ballot at today’s Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) regional board meeting, directors re-elected Loyal Wooldridge as board chair and Blair Ireland as vice-chair. The election for chair and vice-chair is held annually at the first meeting in November.

Their re-election provides continuity in leadership as the Regional Board enters the final year of its 2023-26 strategic priorities. These priorities provide direction for RDCO staff in delivering more than 70 programs and services for the more than 250,000 residents of the Central Okanagan.

Wooldridge, a Kelowna city councillor, previously served as chair of the Regional Board from November 2024 to November 2025, as well as November 2021 to May 2024.

“As we enter the final year of our 2023-26 mandate, focused discipline and clear leadership matter more than ever. Together, we have strengthened our processes, raised expectations and delivered consistent, transparent service for all our rural and urban partners,” says Chair Wooldridge. “I’m honoured to continue leading the Board as we drive forward with steady, accountable governance and finish this mandate even stronger than we began.”

Director Ireland, mayor of Lake Country, served as vice-chair from November 2024 to November 2025, as well as chair from May 2025 to November 2025.

“It’s an honour to serve again as vice-chair. After a year in this role, I know what is required and remain committed to supporting the chair and contributing fully to the board’s work,” says Vice-Chair Ireland. “Coming from a smaller community gives me a grounded perspective on both municipal and rural needs, and I will continue to champion collaboration as we work together through the final year of this mandate.”

The 13-member regional board meets monthly and manages fiscal and policy issues arising as part of local governance for the Central Okanagan. Appointed and elected members represent the four municipalities and two electoral areas of the RDCO, along with a non-voting member representing Westbank First Nation chief and council.
