Lawn Swap Go Electric rebate returns for its third year

Central Okanagan residents can once again take small steps that make a big difference for local air quality as the Lawn Swap Go Electric rebate program opens for 2026.

Now in its third year, the program supports residents in choosing their own air quality adventure; helping reduce pollution and noise by swapping older gas‑powered lawn tools for cleaner, quieter electric options. Over the past two years, 181 residents have taken part, preventing an estimated 8.7 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.

“Every household action adds up,” says Nancy Mora Castro, Program Coordinator. “When residents choose electric tools and recycle older gas-powered equipment, they’re helping improve the air we all share. Lawn Swap makes that choice easier, and we’re excited to bring the program back this year.”

Residents may be eligible for a rebate of up to $150, covering no more than 50 per cent of the cost of new, qualified electric lawn equipment. Eligible items include lawnmowers, leaf blowers, trimmers, and chainsaws.

How it works is simple:

  1. Purchase new qualified electric lawn equipment (meeting program noise‑rating limits).
  2. Recycle your old gas‑powered equipment at an approved facility (Receipt is required).
  3. Complete the online application form at rdco.com/lawnswap.

The deadline to apply is November 15, 2026, or until funds are fully disbursed.
