Okanagan Basin Water Board provides regional update
The Regional Board received a presentation from the Okanagan Basin Water Board outlining its current projects, programs and 2026-2030 Strategic Direction. The presentation highlighted ongoing work to protect and improve water quality, support drought resilience and advance collaborative water management across the Okanagan.
Lake Country Regional Context Statement accepted
The Board accepted the District of Lake Country's amended Regional Context Statement as part of its 2026-2046 Official Community Plan, confirming it aligns with the Regional Growth Strategy.
Board supports Anderson Road ALR subdivision application
The Board supported an Agricultural Land Commission referral application to subdivide two Agricultural Land Reserve properties on Anderson Road. The application proposes creating one additional parcel to support family succession planning and will now be forwarded to the Agricultural Land Commission for its consideration.
Development permit approved for Hodges Road home
The Board approved a development permit for a new single-family home at 9415 Hodges Road. The approval includes environmental mitigation measures, shoreline restoration requirements and conditions related to park access and roadway inspections.
Development permit approved for wildfire rebuild on Westside Road
The Board approved a development permit for 1625 N Westside Road to allow the redevelopment of a home destroyed in the 2023 McDougall Creek wildfire. The approval includes shoreline restoration, wildfire hazard reduction measures and other environmental conditions.
Variance permit approved for Monaghan Road property
The Board approved a variance permit for 6535 Monaghan Road to increase the maximum permitted floor area of an accessory home from 140 square metres to 161.52 square metres.
Governance framework approved for Westside Liquid Waste Management Plan
The Board approved a governance framework to guide the update of the Westside Liquid Waste Management Plan. The framework establishes Board oversight, technical review, interagency collaboration and public engagement throughout the multi-stage planning process.
The Board adopted amendments to the Westside wastewater development cost charge bylaws following completion of the review process and provincial approval. Development cost charges help fund growth-related wastewater infrastructure needed to support future development.
The Board approved the Regional District's 2025 Statement of Financial Information, meeting annual legislative reporting requirements under the Financial Information Act. The statement includes the audited financial statements, employee remuneration, supplier payments and other required financial disclosures.
The Board authorized the Chair to write to the Province regarding the expansion of Provincial Sales Tax to professional and related services. The letter outlines the increased financial impacts on local governments and requests that the Province consider exempting local governments or implementing a rebate or offset mechanism.
The Board authorized the Chair to send a letter to the Province advocating for the continuation of the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP). The funding has supported a range of RDCO climate initiatives, including electric vehicle infrastructure, fleet electrification and energy efficiency upgrades to fire halls.
