Here's what you might have missed from the Regional Board
Election of the chair and vice-chair Loyal Wooldridge was elected as the chair and Blair Ireland, was elected as the vice-chair of the Regional Board. The election for chair and vice-chair is held annually at the first board meeting in November. Learn more at rdco.com/news.
Notice on title for 651 Brant Road
The Regional Board directed staff to proceed with the filing of a notice on title for 651 Brant Road due to ongoing non-compliance with RDCO Building Bylaw No. 1482. The property has an expired building permit and outstanding safety issues. The notice on title serves as notification to anyone searching a property title that the property may be in breach of bylaws or regulations. The filing of a notice is to protect future owners and others with an interest in the property.
Regional Growth Strategy – Annual Report received
The Regional Board received the 2025 RGS Annual Report, highlighting the completion of five priority projects: the Regional Employment Lands Inventory, Regional Housing Needs Summary, Regional Agricultural Strategy, Regional Curbside Food Waste review and the exploration of a regional transportation service. Ongoing initiatives included Regional Planning Labs, the Regional Citizen Survey and more.
New Regional Growth Strategy initiated
The Regional Board approved the launch of a new Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) to guide development and manage growth across the Central Okanagan. The RGS will address regional housing, transportation, climate resilience, economic development and more over a 20-year horizon. 2025 Dog Control Service Review received
The Regional Board received the 2025 Dog Control Service Review. The review confirmed the service is financially sustainable and well regarded, with 79 per cent of residents expressing satisfaction. Opportunities for facility upgrades, enhanced patrol visibility, communication and education and coordinated support for unhoused pet owners were identified. The service continues to support public safety and animal welfare across participating communities.
Concurrence granted for telecommunications tower
The Regional Board approved a letter of concurrence to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada for Rogers Communications to install a 32-metre telecommunications tower at 2411 Westside Place. The project meets RDCO’s antenna siting consultation policy and received no public objections during consultation.
