Seasonal bulky item collection event for North Westside residents

Dispose of unwanted bulky items

North Westside Road residents in the Central Okanagan will have a special opportunity to dispose of unwanted bulky items during a weeklong event in October.

The North Westside Road transfer station will accept large household items for a cost of $20 per truckload between Wednesday, October 8 and October 15, 2025 during regular operating hours. Methods of payment will be cash or cheque only.

This special disposal opportunity is available only for North Westside Road residents with valid ID cards only. Examples of acceptable items include:

  • scrap metal
  • lawn mowers and other motorized tools
  • household and lawn furniture
  • appliances (fridges and freezers accepted at no charge)

The North Westside Road transfer station is open Monday, Wednesday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. It is also open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. It is located at the Sugarloaf Mountain/Whiteman Creek Forest Service Road. (Turn at the corner of Westside Road and Sugarloaf Mountain Forest Service Road and follow the signs.)

Please note, construction or renovation materials will not be accepted at this event. Also, hazardous waste (including e-waste such as batteries, computers or electronics) will not be accepted at this event. Residents may dispose of household hazardous waste at the Battery Doctors/Kelowna Recycling at 1972 Windsor Road, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
