Tax time: Rural property taxes due July 2
To avoid penalties, property owners should ensure their rural property tax is paid to the Ministry of Finance by the July 2, 2026, due date.
Property owners in the Central Okanagan East and Central Okanagan West Electoral Areas should have received their 2026 Rural Property Tax Notices from the Province of British Columbia.
To avoid penalties, property owners should ensure their rural property tax is paid to the Ministry of Finance by the July 2, 2026, due date. If property owners qualify for the Homeowner Grant, that should also be claimed by July 2, 2026.
The province collects Rural Property Tax payments in electoral areas, while municipalities collect taxes directly from property owners for Regional District services. Visit the BC government website for more information about paying rural property taxes.
Electoral area residents can visit rdco.com/tax-estimator and search their property address to view a breakdown of property taxes and parcel taxes for services delivered by the Regional District of Central Okanagan. Residents with questions about their 2026 tax rates can contact finance@rdco.com.
Questions about Rural Property Tax Notices, the Homeowner Grant application or tax deferment programs should be directed to the Surveyor of Taxes at 1-888-355-2700, by email at ruraltax@gov.bc.ca, or through the Ministry of Finance website.
Property owners throughout the Central Okanagan are reminded that the Regional District does not collect property taxes and cannot accept tax payments. Property owners in the City of Kelowna, City of West Kelowna, District of Lake Country and District of Peachland must make property tax payments through their local government.
