Temporary closure of Mission Creek Greenway underpass at Casorso Road
Rising water levels in Mission Creek have forced the temporary closure of the Mission Creek Greenway underpass at Casorso Road.
Rising water levels in Mission Creek have forced the temporary closure of the Mission Creek Greenway underpass at Casorso Road.
A temporary pedestrian crossing has been installed by the City of Kelowna to allow Greenway users to cross Casorso Road safely while the underpass is closed. The Regional District of Central Okanagan asks all visitors to respect posted signs and barricades.
As spring conditions continue to change, the underpass may reopen and close intermittently throughout the season, depending on rainfall, creek levels and runoff conditions. The underpass will remain closed until water levels recede and conditions are safe.
Pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use caution and cross Casorso Road only when it is safe to do so. Motorists are also asked to be alert and watch for Greenway users crossing in the area. Regional parks staff continue to monitor creek levels along the Mission Creek Greenway and Scenic Canyon Regional Park corridor.
During spring runoff, water levels in local creeks can rise quickly and without warning. Please keep a safe distance from creek banks, which may be slippery or unstable due to erosion.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan offers more than 2,100 hectares of parkland, including 86 kilometres of designated trails in 30 regional parks for visitors to explore. Visit rdco.com/parks to plan your next outing.
