Temporary closures planned for infrastructure upgrades at Bertram Creek and Johns Family regional parks

Temporary closures are planned this fall at Bertram Creek Regional Park and Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park as the Regional District of Central Okanagan (RDCO) undertakes infrastructure improvement projects designed to support the long-term operation and maintenance of both parks.

The projects include bridge replacements that will improve access for park operations and replace aging infrastructure. Most areas of both parks will remain accessible throughout construction, with only localized closures required around the work sites.

Beginning Sept. 28, crews will install a new vehicle bridge over Lebanon Creek at Johns Family Nature Conservancy Regional Park, replacing the existing culvert crossing. A portion of Elk Trail and the Chute Lake Road parking lot will be temporarily closed during construction, while the remainder of the park will remain open.

Beginning Oct. 5, crews will replace the vehicle bridge at Bertram Creek Regional Park. The bridge will be closed during construction, while the rest of the park will remain open to visitors. 

“While visitors may experience some temporary disruptions, these projects will improve important park infrastructure and help support safe, reliable access for years to come,” said Tamara Oljaca, Manager, Parks Infrastructure & Visitor Services.

Both projects are expected to be completed by mid-October. Visitors are asked to respect all closures and follow posted signs and directions from crews working on site.
