Your community needs you: Join Wilson’s Landing Fire Department
The 2026 wildfire season reminded us that strong, prepared local fire departments are essential to community safety. Wilson’s Landing Fire Department is seeking dedicated people who want to serve their neighbours, respond when help is needed and join a team committed to protecting the community. Prospective members must be between the ages of 19 and 65 and be in good physical condition.
Paid-on-call firefighters support their community through wildfire and structure fire response, medical first response and other emergencies. Members gain practical skills, grow through training and build lasting connections with teammates and neighbours. Recruits will also receive training as emergency medical assistants, as Wilson’s Landing serves as a medical-first response station alongside its firefighting operations.
Interested community members can apply online and visit the Wilson’s Landing Fire Department on Tuesday, Oct. 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to speak with firefighters in person and ask questions.
Prospective recruits will be contacted regarding the next steps for joining the department. The department will conduct interviews and physical tests, and successful applicants will receive training beginning in November for approximately five months.
Applicants are required to complete a criminal record check.
Established in 1984, the Wilson’s Landing Fire Department serves the community along Westside Road from Trader’s Cove to Shelter Cove.
